To many, it may just seem like another webpage. To others, it’s a key place to get crucial information that could potentially alter their lives. The School Without Walls website, once abandoned, barely maintained, and extremely out of date, received the justice it deserved. After many years, the SWW website is officially back on track, getting the attention it needs to be successful.

Before the update, students had proposed solutions to fixing the issue. Hunter Davis (‘29) states “I think that having multiple clubs dedicated to updating the website, such as one ensuring the software is up to date, another for making sure the information is current, may help the website maintain its updated news.”

There are also students who say that the website isn’t as helpful to them, such as Emerald Pearsall (‘29). “In my opinion, the SWW website is somewhat helpful, but at the same time, it doesn't provide current information, since almost everything is outdated. If you’re looking for athletics, it doesn't show all that you would expect it to show, not to mention that it doesn’t list all the club options.” She continues, “It’s outdated and it could disappoint prospective students who arrive at Walls, who realize that the club they wanted to do no longer is offered. Even the calendar itself isn’t completely accurate; it has only started recently, it doesn’t get updated as much as it needs to.”

However, now with the website update, some students have seen a noticeable difference. Anna Elizabeth Martinez-Graham (‘27) remarked how, “I felt like whoever’s running it cares about the events we do at Walls, since we don’t really have a lot of resources that we need, but we do have plenty of events.”

Now that the website is updated, it shows what we do here at Walls matters; we are able to make a lasting impact. “The last time I have checked the website,” Martinez-Graham continued, “had been the last time I had been interviewed, and at that time, the website had been dated back to two years ago.”

Ms. Clark, the current website manager of the SWW, shares about her experience managing the website. “I began managing the website in September,” she says, “and since then, I’ve focused on keeping information accurate and reflective of what’s happening across our school community.” She notes, ‘I’ve updated the news section on the home page with stories and events from this school year to help keep the website current.” The effort was successful - this month alone, the website faced 8.3K visits, and 18K page views, which is a 22% increase from last month.

“Typically, when new information is added, it comes directly from the relevant department,” Ms. Clark explained. “For example, the Admissions and Mental Health teams have both provided updated information for their sections, which I’ve incorporated to ensure visitors always have the most recent resources.”

Not everything is seamless. Ms. Clark notes that “one ongoing challenge is balancing timely updates with accuracy and design consistency. Because information comes from many different sources, ensuring everything remains cohesive, accessible, and user-friendly requires careful coordination.”

Looking ahead, “we’re planning to launch a new and improved school website in mid-December, with input and support from parents. The goal is to make the site more engaging, easier to navigate, and better aligned with the needs of our school community.”
