A Note from Our Puzzle Editor by Leah Levy (‘25) – Puzzle Editor Emeritus

As my time at SWW comes to an end, I would like to express my gratitude for the Rookery. I’m very lucky to have had the chance to write articles over the past four years, as well as create the Crossword and Connections this year. I’m proud to announce that Gideon Broswosky (‘26) will be taking over as Puzzle Editor next year. I am excited to see all that he does and I know that the Rookery is in good hands. I hope that you enjoy Gideon’s debut puzzle, and happy solving!

Editor-in-Chief Signs Off by Zoe Fisher (‘25) – Editor-in-Chief Emeritus

This year has flown by and my time with the Rookery is nearly over! It has been a pleasure to be part of such a driven and engaged group of budding journalists for the past four years. I am happy to announce I will be leaving the Rookery in the exceptionally qualified hands of Zoe Becker (‘26) and Jessie Moss (‘26) who will be next year’s Editors-in-Chief. I am sure they will continue the Rookery’s work of providing the Walls community with reliable and captivating reports on the goings-on of the school.

It has been an honor to work with The Rookery’s large community of editors and writers to create seven editions this year. I would first like to thank the Senior Editing staff of Georgia Murphy (‘26), Leah Levy (‘25), Eve Rebora (‘25), Carlotta Rother (‘25), Theo Weller (‘25), and Brady Woodhouse (‘25) for their tireless work making The Rookery the best publication it can be. A special thank you to Leah Levy (‘25) as she served as puzzle editor as well, making each edition more fun for everyone. Lucy Byron (‘25) and Niamh O’Donovan (‘25) also did a terrific job bringing a laugh to the Walls community through their comics. Finally, Layla Rethy (‘25) was an excellent digital editor for three years, bringing the impact of The Rookery beyond the walls of Walls. All of these seniors have left their mark on the paper and will be sincerely missed.

The Rookery would not be what it is without the more than 30 reporters who have written for the paper this year. I can’t wait to see what they do in the coming years, as they have already displayed promising work and passion for sharing news with the Walls community. I would also like to thank the School Without Walls Home and School Association for generously funding The Rookery, making it possible for us to print a new edition each month. Finally, thank you to Ms. Isaac, Ms. Grant, Ms. Tully, and Mr. Ghazi for supporting us along the way.

I sincerely thank all of our readers for taking the time to read The Rookery each month—the paper exists for you! If you are interested in contributing to The Rookery next year—whether through writing, photography, or comics—please do not hesitate to reach out to Zoe or Jessie. The Rookery is always looking to improve and grow, and it needs your help to do that.

This year, we grew our writing staff immensely, extended the comic section, created a new layout, published satirical and investigative journalistic pieces, and printed multiple expanded editions. The Rookery is only growing, and I cannot wait to watch it become better and better over the years to come!
